The fort at Fatehpur Sikri / Sheikh Salim Chishti's holy grave

Akbar was one of the greatest rulers of the Mughal empire. He was blessed with everything except an heir to his throne. This desire took him to Ajmer where he sought out Sheikh Salim Chishti. Once Akbar's son Jahangir was born Fatehpur Sikri was built to pay homage to Sheikh Salim Chishti. Even today people come here to get their wishes fulfilled...

Behind us is the famous Bulland Darwazaa which is one of the main entrances.

Sitting at the doorstep of the famous Salim Chishti holy grave

Inside the holy grave we placed a beautiful shawl to pay homage to the Sufi Saint. It is  customary to cover your head when you are inside.

It is believed that if you tie a holy thread at this spot, anything you wish for will be fulfilled ... May all our wishes come true...

Outside the holy grave, the walls are covered with intricate
stone carvings dating back to hundreds of years.

As it is in any tourist attraction, here too we visit the gift shop, except the gift shops here are outside, in the open.
One last shot before we leave this peaceful place...
